5. Better? De'Andre Hunter just can't seem to figure out who he is with the Kings. After another slow start, hit a couple of threes and did a nice job on the glass on his way to a 7-point, 5-rebound performance. He's the fifth option, which isn't easy, but the Kings need more on

- James Ham: Host analysis: the leading fifth-starter candidates are Precious Achiuwa and De'Andre Hunter. Each comes with a drawback. at 18:02
- James Ham: De'Andre Hunter came into camp as an early favorite to start at the three but was clearly outplayed by Simmons. Starting Hunter would push Keegan Murray back to the four. at 16:19
- James Ham: De'Andre Hunter had a very rough training camp and preseason. 'Last time I looked' he was averaging about 3.3 points per game. at 16:38
- De'Andre Hunter (reported): De'Andre Hunter hasn't played in a long time because of last year's eye injury. Per the host, Hunter told reporters his vision has been changed forever. at 16:55

- Mark Jones says Christie probably has tough conversations ahead with Keegan Murray and De'Andre Hunter. He describes Hunter as still getting back into the flow after last year's eye injury and not yet at his stride in preseason, and says that timeline may now have to be compressed. at 16:23
- Mark Jones: if Hunter were shooting at his best he'd pick Hunter, but for now the spot is probably up for grabs. He suggests a matchup-based, rotating fifth starter (Hunter or Achiuwa) game to game, citing OKC's coach keeping a variable starter spot. at 22:27
- Mark Jones praises Achiuwa's energy, rebounding and defense as great and at times indispensable, calling him a thermostat. Of Hunter he says he hasn't been at his best yet. at 23:42

- De'Andre Hunter hasn't played well. The Kings moved Simmons into the lineup partly because he offers many different things, especially as a defender and passer. at 18:04
- Host's view of De'Andre Hunter: a proven, very good shooter and a solid but not great defender, less versatile than Simmons, who can actually play small forward as a 6'7" switchable wing. at 18:17
- The host's first suggested move is to reboot De'Andre Hunter. He has looked absolutely lost and mostly unplayable in the preseason, and the Kings need him back to his old form if he starts at the three. at 28:02

- Achiuwa and Hunter were the first two players off the bench. at 9:04
- The host thinks Hunter could be a primary scorer with the second unit, at least until Malik Monk returns. at 9:18
- Keegan Murray, three games into his return, shot 1-of-5 with 3 points in 17 minutes. Hunter came off the bench, shot 1-of-5 and went 0-of-3 from three, with 2 points, 2 rebounds and a steal in 20 minutes. at 31:22
