Before the game: the story

Reported Kawhi Leonard still settling in as Raptors visit Minnesota

In his first season with Toronto, Leonard scored 16 in Friday's 112-102 win over Washington, ending a run of 20-point games, RotoWire reports. Scottie Barnes led with 28 points and 14 rebounds. Locked On Raptors says Leonard asked to return late in a blowout because he's still learning the plays.

Opinion Murray-Boyles pushing for a bigger role in Toronto
Locked On Raptors notes Collin Murray-Boyles played 17 of his 19 opening-night minutes at center and was +23 alongside Immanuel Quickley. A Hardwood Knocks host says Jakob Poeltl holds the starting job but thinks Murray-Boyles belongs in all of Toronto's best lineups.

Reported LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards share the load in Minnesota
Ball is new to the Timberwolves this season. Locked On Wolves reports he ran with the bench in the first half and Edwards did in the second, a stagger the host likes. ESPN says Edwards and Jaden McDaniels each scored 15 in Friday's 115-93 win over Orlando.

Reported Jaden McDaniels commits to Minnesota with veteran extension
The Timberwolves signed McDaniels to a veteran extension. He told Jon Krawczynski that adding another year was "a no-brainer." Eric Pincus wrote that the reported $40 million deal works for both sides.

With CMB in foul trouble, it's Graves as the 9th man and Battle as the 10th man tonight. Was reversed in the opener but this appears to be Darko's early-season rotation, with Kyle Anderson the odd man out for now. Probably more of a situational role for the vet.

One thing about the 2019 Raptors: they didn’t rely on Kawhi to win (until the playoffs). Other guys stepped up when he sat, allowing them to manage his workload. Not the re-debut people were hoping for tonight but his teammates picked him up. Bulls aren’t the bar but bodes well.

Raptors O: 43 first-quarter points on 52% FG, 6-12 3P, 13 assists on 14 buckets, 15-4 edge in fast-break points Raptors D: held Bulls to 23 points on 29% FG, 1-9 3P and forced 4 turnovers Pretty flawless debut quarter (and Kawhi only needed to play 5 minutes of it)
